O Allah, please put this world in my hand and not in my heart for I desire the heart which always remember You all the time. Please forgive me for I have sin.

Oh... how time flew..... school break 13-21 Mac 09

Bismillahirrahmanirraheem

Today's the last day of the school break - rasa sunyi pulak... always have this feeling when the children leave the nest, never failed... huhu

The week passed by so fast, felt like it was only yesterday we picked the boys up in Greenwood. That was last Friday, March 13th

Saturday morning Zharif had his first ever camping - at Amal Hidayah's tadika compound! sounds like it was great fun! Was a bit reluctant to go, with the big brothers around!
Saturday night sent 'Atif off at Hentian Duta to attend Xcell in Penang. Mg mendapat menfaat maksima(!) & mencapai objektif! 4 from Ampang Jaya, 'Atif, Atiqah, Mariah & Nasrul. Alhamdulillah fully sponsored by kawasan.... :)
ngantuknyer....

alhamdulillah, bas sampai kol 11 lebih. Moga selamat perjalanan....

Sunday was another full day. alhamdulillah the boys were around, boleh tengok adik2. Daurah in the morning d SRIAAKL. Stopped by at home to see how things were, solat & short (quality??) time with the kids, then off to masjid Ridhwan. Sila picked me up at around 2.30 & we headed to de Dalma for WJS's meeting with Selangor Muslim Women NGOs. It was already late when I got home.
Dr Roy - welcome & tq......

we hope this will be a start to.....

aren't we all sweet... hehe

Spent time with the kids Monday morning. Petang usrah d umah K Ani & malam had another meeting d Kompleks JIM - SMIWI coming up! waaaa... banyaknya kerja nak kena buat!

we mean business...

pengarah prog jgn risau, arah je, kami buat.....

Tuesday was really,really packed!
After lots of SMSes & calls, transport for Kem Remaja Perkasa was finally organised, alhamdulillah. Meeting point- PKJ, 8.15 am. Afiq was late(very late!). All 22 were finally on their way Hulu Langat by 9.05..... Phooh, lega!

We then climbed into Yan's MPV. Our next mission: Jaulah Kasih , ke rumah Zid d Tasik Puteri.I've been there, accompanied her when she moved Nov last year. But none of the others had been there nor seen her since she moved. It was a good visit, alhamdulillah.

sembang2 dulu, tazkirah sikit...

pastu kita makan.... yummy lunch brought all the way from melawati!

jawaher, zid, dah & k je.
back row:yan, pah & me

time to go, jumpa lagi insyaAllah

Ijah pun ikut.... never knew that white bunga melati will turn yellow when plucked!

Sent the 3 angels to Yan's place at around 6.30pm. Tonight we had a wedding to attend at Sime Darby Convention Centre. Our plan was to pick 'Atif up at Hentian Duta at 7.30pm and send him off to KRP after the wedding dinner. But it was not to be.. 7.30, the bus was still in Sg Bernam, another hour or so before it reached KL.

sneaked out early, no one's around outside the hall, boleh lah posing.... hehe

Hafeez used to work at Iktisas a few years back

As the pengantin settled at the main table, 'Atif called. So we asked him to take a taxi to SDCC. But as usual, pcik Othman will send him instead! We waited & waited, & waited... It was only 5-min drive away but it had already been more than half an hour ... Lan called, & whoa!!! they were at KLConvention Ctr!!! He got it all mixed up - KLCC for SDCC, KLCC gor KLGCC!!

Lesson learnt: talk to the driver, find out for sure if he knows where he's going! don't count on your kid telling him, based on what he heard from you...!

So we changed plan, we'll pick 'Atif & the 3 from Othman's place. He didn't bring the housekey & we didn't leave one... By the time we reached home it was past 10pm. 'Atif had a good night sleep & Lan off to his usrah, goodbye KRP for tonight! New plan: They'll join the Qiam the next morning....

Lesson learnt (2) : when taking seats at a table, I will sit next to a lady & Lan on my other side.
Tonight we made a mistake of Lan sitting next to his friend with me on his other side leaving the seat on my other side empty.... Along came a decent looking couple... I smiled at the wife anticipating her to fill up the seat next to me, tut..tut... it was the husband instead! ouch! he even had the grace to pull out the chair beyond for the wife to sit on...which was beside another guy! aduhhhh, the rest of the ladies at the table looked a bit stunned too. I had to slowly inch my seat towards Lan. Hope I didn't seem rude. That sort of spoiled my night. Oh well....

With the boys at the camp, another ziarah kasih on wednesday ! This time we visited Fatimah . Haven't seen her since she was discharged from Ampang Puteri, months ago!! Our last visit was when she was in Danau Kota, she had since moved to Taman Melati.

mar, yan & fatimah with ira & me behind

Today our usrah group joined Nadi Asybal committee meeting in Al Amin KL. Planned aktiviti Aulad for Rehlah Keluarga this coming Saturday.

Thursday morning went with Jun & Jawaher to Taman Tasik Perdana to recce for a good spot for our Rehlah Keluarga
sempat naik train pusing-pusing taman!

nice spot here!

This is the directive given in the net, with a rough sketch attached. Pretty clear huh!
Dr Bad responded saying that she could already visualise the place, without having to look at the map hehehe .

  • 1st RIGHT, MASUK KANAN KE JALAN CENDERAMULIA

  • JALAN SIKIT LAGI, TEMPAT BERKUMPUL DI TANAH (PADANG) LAPANG SEBELAH KANAN JALAN , MENGADAP RUMAH SAMPAN (KAWASAN NI AGAK TERLINDUNG)
Afternoon, the boys got home from KRP - dead tired & all pooped!! I had mountains of laundry to do... :( made worse by the fact that it had been raining everyday this week! Clothes everywhere, fan spinning at full speed 24 hours a day!!! had to, the boys were going back to school saturday morning...sigh....

Early friday morning, the house was lively! no one slept in after subuh as everybody had had a good night sleep! empty tummies, so had to go out and get breakfast - of all the days, today they came back straight from the surau instead of stopping by to get breakfast..sigh....

After Friday prayers Lan took everybody to KLCC, including Afnan & Faiz, leaving me behind to settle the laundry. Bliss, no interruption!!

Tonite's the last nite before the school break ended. Tonite we must make time for a family dinner! Lan left his phone somewhere in KLCC, so off he went with 'Arif to search for it. Hard luck! (yesterday found it under the driver's seat... alhamdulillah).

I took everybody else to JJ - Ahmad got himself a pair of new shoes - this afternoon he called, he just found out that he got 1 of size 8 & 1 size 10! Tough luck!

'Iffah came along, we had a nice family dinner at NZ, finally..... at 11 pm...alhamdulillah. Banyak cerita-ceriti menarik & lawak tentang KRP!!!

Saturday will be another tale to tell.. biiznillah

KYREZZZ???

Bismillahirrahmanirraheem

Sounds like another Kyrez in the making, hehehehe

Today after daurah in Al Amin, picked Ulfah & Zharif from Nadi Asybal d PKJ. Asma' & Asiah tagged along. They had a whale of a time doing all sorts of girl-things and... just now heard them calling each other by their "Kyrez" names - Tiara, Daffy & Barbie (hmmmmmm...names might change later...) , every now & then repeating " Best friends - today, tomorrow & always"!!

Hehe, sounds familiar huh, Long & the Kyrezzzzzzzzzz :)

SANG MURABBI

Bismillahirrahmanirraheem

All work & no play makes Jack a dull boy....or something like that! as for us I would say that we were being unfair to our bodies & minds - both were screaming for their dues & haq!
After months of such hectic & stressful lives for us, time to unwind!! so we decided to use the one night complimentary stay at Sheraton Imperial. Checked in 26th & out 27th, hoping for total & quality time with the kids.. whoever's around, that is.

'Arif & Ahmad were still in Kersani, back sunday insyaAllah. 'Iffah still in UTM struggling with her submission :( So there were only 'Atif, Ulfah, Zharif & Filzah. And 'Atif was to go to JB for X-pert that night.

Lan dropped us around 2 pm, before rushing off to his meeting, somewhere...
Our room number was 2711.
Here's what greeted us when we entered the room..

Wahhhh... large flat screen & a dvd player! perfect! We brought along 'Sang Murabbi' that we bought during the PPN. Our plan was to watch it on the laptop.....but with this...

We spent the afternoon watching 'Sang Murabbi'. MasyaAllah, it really touched our hearts & left us blurry-visioned towards the end... May Allah showers His blessings..

That night we sent 'Atif to Surau Unisel, Shah Alam for a short briefing, before the 11.15 pm bus took them to JB for the 4-day programme.

ANUGERAH (1) - ZHARIF

Bismillahirrahmanirraheem

8th November 2008 - one busy day! There was Aam's wedding to attend. But before that we had to stop in Pandan to attend Pak Yem's daughter's wedding. Pak Yem is the Chairman of Sukarelawan Hospital Ampang. All sukarelawan/sahabat hospital were invited. We were one of the first few to arrive, almost 12 noon on the dot!!

Before that we were at Zharif's Ihtifal in UIA.

Funny he was chosen the Best Level 1 student for the year! The teachers thought so too!! He's such a good boy in class! All work meticulously done, completed on time, quiet, obedient, helpful.. ahhh... all the good traits, that earned him the award!! Yan & K Mala couldn't quite believe it, knowing the way he jumped & ran around, shouting and all, during usrah!! hehehe

So during the Ihtifal, he got to wear the graduation robe & mortar. & he wasn't even graduating, yet!

That's my boy! alhamdulillah...

hear ye, hear ye "Allahuakbal" !

well, K Long's was "kabak..kabak..."!

& 'Iffah's " Alahuakbal alaaaaahh.."!

hee hee hee

ANUGERAH (2) - ULFAH

Bismillahirrahmanirraheem
It was with a heavy heart that I left home Saturday night to attend K Long's convo the next morning. For on the very same day, Ulfah was called up the stage to accept her excellence award. It was to be a proud day for her, with us cheering her on.. but it was not to be.

We would definitely not miss it for the world, tapi apakan daya.....

In the years that the children were at school, we would always be there on their special ocassions, right from their kindy days to secondary schools - ihtifal, sports day, takrim, report card day, etc....We would both be there! well, we both tried to be there, if not throughout, at least during the important moments, but most times we'd be there giving our full support.

So having to miss this really broke my heart, what more this was to be her first Takrim. She missed the previous two though we believed she would have gotten one were she in al Amin KL. The system was different.
Now that she got it, we were not around!!

Alhamdulillah, with Mok su & 'Iffah around, we believed it turned out alright, judging from the pictures taken. Thank you 'Iffah! Thank you Moksu!

dengan kawan ketat, Asma'! sama-sama bijokk!! hehe
hmmm...... dapat apa ek???

yesss!! alhamdulillah!boleh guna tahun depan.

ANUGERAH (3) - K LONG

Bismillahirrahmanirraheem

23rd Nov 2008 was a big day for us, alhamdulillah

K Long & her anugerah + Ulfah & her Takrim. Last 3 weeks was Zharif & his best student award. Alhamdulillah, all these are possible only with His grace & rahmah. May all our children grow up to be al-muttaqeen, who will strive to uphold Islam, biiznillah.

If a picture tells a thousand stories, then pictures wil tell a million...

The invitation we got about a week earlier

One was not listed: Pelajar Terbaik 2 Diploma Serentak - making it 4 in all
And we thought all K Long got were just plaques & certs..... there were ENVELOPS too!!!! :)

Alhamdulillah...it was worth all the rush,rush,rush......

And this is K Long's acceptance speech, read by Has, which had me in tears... and the vidoeman came right infront, zooming in on my teary face..kurengggg!

Kini, saya graduan Jaiputra,Alhamdulillah!

Pada rakan-rakan para graduan semua, saya ingin mengucapkan “Selamat Maju Jaya” . Moga langkah-langkah kita seterusnya sentiasa dalam redha Nya.

FILZAH KU SAYANG...

Bismillahirrahmanirraheem

Last night Filzah striked again! Since she reached 2, all the traits of "terrible 2" had started to surface, sometimes taking us by surprise. It shouldn't though... we had gone through this 7 times before this. somehow......... everytime we had to go through this phase, we were never prepared!!

When 'Arif was that age, i came across an article in the paper (sayang tak simpan...) - describing the terrible two! and whoa!!! i told Lan, "look! this article is talking about our Arif! " It scared us to think of what more havoc he could create... but alhamdulillah.. we passed with flying colours... no doubt, having to face further "terribles'!! sampailah dia habis primary school...

Last night... i was busy in front of the computer. Ulfah, Zharif & Filzah were downstairs, enjoying "kacang" & "aweeek" d laptop. Everything was aman & damai..

Then Zharif came in & said "Ummi, Filzah wat rosak komputer" whattt???

Then Ulfah came up sobbing, sandar kat tangga outside the room. Now what? asked Ulfah what happened.. she refused to answer, geleng2 je kepala. Then they both went to sleep.

i continued with my work, lupa aduan tadi...

Later in the night, went downstairs . Lepas kedapur, teringat pasal laptop. Gi depan, it was off.

Bila on kan.... Ya Allah!!! not again!! not another one!! There goes another notebook..rendered useless now, screen hancusssss, kena baling kat Filzah, my little darling!!!

I was a bit upset, She was exceptionally quiet. Tidur tanpa banyak kerenah. Kesiannn pulak bila tengok dia tidor. When asked sape buat ni? she innocently answered "ijahhhh" . How can we be angry.... Ya Allah, berikan kami kekuatan & kesabaran dalam membesarkan anak2 yang Engkau amanahkan pada kami. Jadikanlah mereka anak2 yang soleh & solehah serta penyejuk hati kami....

Lets see what experts say about "terrible 2s"....

from National Network for childcare:

Two-year-olds like to be independent! Favorite words are "Mine" (ijah nyer!)and "No" (tanakkk!) and "I do it!" (sape buat?? Ijahhhhh!) Emotions take on a roller coaster-like quality as 2-year-olds can go from excitement to anger to laughter within a few moments. A great deal of time is spent exploring, pushing, pulling, filling, dumping, and touching.Two-year-olds are surer of themselves and of what they can do as they grow. Their bodies stretch out, and most will lose the potbellied look during this third year of life. Their appetites lessen, and they may be particular about food. They are still growing fairly rapidly.

Toddlers are very attached to their caregivers.(oh my! she'll never let me out of her sight! - nak ido ummi, nak makan ummi, semuanye nak ummi... aduuuhhhh- i'll never say arrrrgh! soon she'll grow & i'll miss this, terribly, just the way i missed my other 7 babies...) You may find them trying out new ideas and exploring their surroundings (even as i'm writing this, she's EXPLORING alright! semua benda dia kejekan kat bilik ni, aduuuuhhh...), but still staying close to you as they need a base of support and trust. Two-year-olds are usually interested in other children. However, social interest and physical abilities sometimes collide as a hug becomes a tackle and a gentle pat becomes a whack. You will need to teach children how to express affection appropriately.

how true! see some of the ideas they give to caregivers... hmmmmm....

  • Baby-proof your house again. Two-year-olds are taller and more skillful at opening doors and getting into mischief

  • Know how to handle a temper tantrum:

1. don't yell or hit the child,

2. remain calm,

3. talk in soothing tone,

4. put your hand gently on child's arm if possible

here's more....enjoy!

They say "No" when they mean "Yes." They want control.

They eat on the run. All of a sudden, they are mobile creatures; 2-year-olds have the whole world to explore. And they want to do it now.
"All this time they weren't able to, but now they can walk, talk and feed themselves,"

"They push the parent away because they want to do it themselves."
Frequently termed "the terrible twos," this age is punctuated by temper tantrums and aggression, and marked by repetition -- the same story every night, the same path up and down the stairs, the same food, the same thing to wear every day.

The child's limited vocabulary begins to grow into complete sentences, from 18 to 300 words, although the typical 2-year-old becomes frustrated at times because he can't express himself as well as he would like. That's when temper tantrums and aggression erupt,
Parents shouldn't despair when they see their child acting aggressively, because it's normal for them to act that way.

That behavior almost always passes when the child who is bitten or shoved gets attention and the child who bites or shoves gets ignored, . The adult should present the child with an alternative, such as waiting for a turn to play with something, and offer to help -- "Here, let me hold you in my arms while you wait."
Two-year-olds want to make decisions for themselves, which may prove difficult for parents because the child's favorite word is usually "no."
Avoid asking them questions that can be answered that way, .
"Instead of asking them if they want to get dressed, ask them whether they want to wear their blue dress or their red dress,"
The same with food "Feeding can be a real trauma for a parent," in part because the child is so active. They are going to eat what they want, then rush on to other things.

Don't try to toilet train a 2-year-old, it'll normally meet with an 80 percent failure rate.
"When they are trying to control things around them for the first time, the last thing they can do is control their bladder,"
Optimum toilet training time is 2½to 3 years old for girls and 3 for boys,

Parents with a 2-year-old can expect to see them begin to pretend while they play, "You start seeing them sitting at a table with their dolls, pretending to be someone else," . But they are more likely to play beside a friend than with him
Parents frequently tell their 2-year-olds to share, but that's a concept they can't grasp, . Instead, tell them to take turns, something that is easier for the parent to demonstrate for them .
Tantrums are inevitable. Parents who interact with a child during a tantrum will just prolong it, Validate the child's problem, then walk away
"When a child is having a tantrum, they're totally unreachable," . "Say, `You're upset because you can't have a cookie -- when you're done, come talk to me.' "
Spanking only says, "You have to stop because I'm bigger than you," "What a 2-year-old needs is a gentle nudge. Teach them logical consequences: If you throw your toys, I'm going to put them away. If you play with your food, you will leave the table. Children learn to connect."
It's easy for parents of 2-year-olds to become frustrated or angry.
"They wonder, `What happened to that sweet little 16-month old who would do anything I said,'
Parents needn't see this time as a power struggle, .
"They need to accept this belligerent behavior as a wonderful and positive sign that their child is growing up."
Tantrums are inevitable. Parents who interact with a child during a tantrum will just prolong it.
