O Allah, please put this world in my hand and not in my heart for I desire the heart which always remember You all the time. Please forgive me for I have sin.

I know that feeling....

Bismillahirrahmanirraheem

Wednesday we had usrah as usual., alhamdulillah
Somehow along the way, our discussion veered towards the topic of Tabarruj! Something that should be close to our hearts. something that need to constantly be reminded as we trudge along in our daily lives - meeting & mixing with people around us. To many, Islam is potrayed by the Muslims. Don't let our potrayal of Islam make Islam looks bad in the eyes of the non-Muslims.

Among the essence of tabarruj is in the way we dress. As duat, like it or not, Islam will be judged by our akhlaq - the way we talk, we behave, we interact, we worship, we dress..... Take note of these in our dressing:

1.not tight/follow the body contour. Being slim & curvy or fat & bumpy is not the issue! Take note too of the material that clings to the body...
2.reasonable thickness - nothing shadowy! ok to put on nets or thin & flimsy materials as the trend is now, as long as it's with proper lining, including the arms, and topping up with petticoats if need be. Petticoat is an issue with the young ones... all should be made aware that without one, we are giving free shows of 'wayang kulit' when in the sun or under the light...
3.doesn't attract attention. Hmmm... how so the way i dress attract peoples' attention? the cut & fashion, for one. Then there's the colours. Not forgetting the accessories. Check all these factors out before putting on something, to go out i.e. At home? Put on anything u like, to your heart's desire.....
4.Not for show - that we put on something expensive, branded & class! oh how arrogant! and arrogance is one of the sifat2 mazmumah yang perlu dijauhi

True, it's subjective. and true too, each and every one of us has a personal 'code' - which might or might not be agreeable to all. Beware though, gradual changes which we initially think 'should be ok' might end up totally out of the Islamic 'code'!

Nor was relating a story of her trip to Germany recently. Of how one day she decided to try putting on a tudung different from the one she's used to! Of 'cos to others it looked alright & perfectly ok as it's worn by many others, majority in fact! But she was sooooo conscious & uncomfortable throughout. Ahhhhh..... what a relief when she finally slipped on the usual.....

I know that feeling.... I had just gone through it myself during Khalid's walimah - the purple baju kurung! hehehe
