Life is so fragile

"Life is so fragile" - statement made by SMA on our way back from HKL last night. It was already very late, around 10.40 pm, when the van jenazah made its way towards Bukit Kiara cemetary, followed by beloved families and friends in tens of cars. It was the final journey on this world for our dear friend, kak (dr) tini. Lan joined the group so I decided to follow Mar & SMA back. By the time Lan came home, it was already past 2 am.
Almarhumah K Tini was a friend from our days in Adelaide. She's so sweet & soft-spoken - lucky Ridzwan! We last met her (in fact our first since we left Adelaide in 1984) during our reunion on March 1st 2009, barely a month ago. It was fated that the reunion was to be a farewell gathering.. who would have thought so, amidst laughters, jokes & stories. Takdir Allah menentukan segalanya.
Yesterday we had MP-IPT at Al Amin KL. Alhamdulillah everything went as planned except for an accident outside which cost Amirul & Muhammad their cars. Coming down the slope, one guy who was 'mabuk' lost control of his car and smashed into Muhammad's car which was legally & nicely parked on the periphary of Al Amin, which in turn smashed into Amirul's, and Amirul's car then smashed into a tree! It was pretty messy & took quite some time to settle. The sad part was... the guy was Malay (assumed Muslim ) - keluar kereta terhoyong-hayang.... Banyaknya kemungkaran, banyaknya kerja-kerja perlu dilakukan.
Around 4pm received an SMS from Mar, 'K Tini had been kidnapped, please make doa'. Shortly after, she called, K Tini's body had been found. Ya Allah! Cucurilah rahmat keatas roh nya & letakkan almarhumah dikalangan para solihin.
Lots of stories went round. Heard a few versions myself, until we got the actual story from Ridzwan.
The kids were with Lan & Abbas joined them later at the office. After MP-IPT, picked them up & sent everybody off to Yan's place as we were going to HKL. There was Earth Hour last nite - so switched off the main switch before heading to HKL
So many friends, colleagues & families were already at the mortuary when we arrived at around 9pm. I only found out then that there were 2 of them , k Tini & Dr Amin Tai. This was what happened:
The clinic was going to have a family day in 2 weeks time, they planned to go jungle trekking. K Tini was on a one-month leave but she went in Wednesday morning to see a patient. After lunch she decided to go recce the place. After asking around, only Dr Amin was free to go with her & off they went.
Apparently they went up the steep trek. It had been raining the past week & they must have slipped.
When they didn't return Wednesday night, police reports were made but dismissed as family problem - K Tini must have run away after a tiff!
They called the two hp's & detected the signal to be coming from Wangsa Maju cell. So the police combed the 25 km radius, missing the Klang Gate dam area. The bodies were finally found in the ravine, badly decomposed. K Tini had multiple fractures of ribs, hips & legs while Dr Amin broke his neck.

It felt so unreal, just like a dream. It felt like it was only yesterday that we saw her...... and now she had left us
Stopping by at home before going to HKL, found out that our Chinese neighbour's mother had also passed away 11 am yesterday morning. Paid Elizabeth a visit to convey our condolence on her mom-in-law's demise. The body was nicely made up & preserved as it will only be sent off to Segamat tomorrow, Monday! There won't be any of those noisy rituals as they are not buddhists!

May this tazkeerah from Bro Ahmad Sakr in his khutbah be a reminder to us of death:
Allah (St) says in the Quran in Surah Al-Mulk (Dominion):
The subject of death is very important to all of us. Every one of us has to die. In this regard Allah mentioned in the Quran in Surah Al-Zumar that everyone has to die including the Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) himself:
Also Allah said in Surah Al-'Ankabut (The Spider) that everyone has to die:
No one knows when and where to die. No one even knows how he is to die. In this respect Allah says in the Quran in Surah Luqman:
It is understood that Allah alone is the One Who gives life, and it is He Who takes life. In this regard, Allah says in the Quran in Surah Al-Mumin (The Believer):
While life and death are from Allah, we have to remember that they are to take place with the permission of Allah alone. Each one's life and death are decided by Allah. It is stated in the Quran in Surah Al-Imran (The family of Imran) the following:
Allah makes us die daily at night during sleeping. He makes most of us wake up from our temporary death to praise Him and to worship Him. The Quran states in Surah Al-Zumar (The Crowds) the following:
Allah has assigned an angel responsible for taking our souls out of our flesh. The angel's name in the Quran is Angel of Death. Allah informs us in Surah Al-Sajdah (Prostration):
The life of a Muslim on this earth is a short one, but his deeds and actions are eternal if he knows how to channel them in the right directions. As far as the life span of a Muslim is concerned, our beloved Prophet said:
While the life span of a Muslim is short, and while the deeds and actions do stop normally after death, a Muslim may continue to earn rewards for certain things even after his death. These are perpetual charity, a useful knowledge, a good child that prays for him, a mosque that he built, teaching Quran to another person, a house he built for public use, a water fountain or a river that he rent and made it free for people, or a charity that he gave during his life while he was in good health. All these and similar others are the ones that may follow him even while he is in the grave. In this respect, the Prophet said:
Life in this world is a temporary one. The real life is the one of the hereafter. In this respect, the Quran states in Surah Al-Ankabut (The Spider):
We are here on a trial basis, we are here on a temporary basis, and we are here for a passage to heaven and paradise. The real life of an eternal rest is that of the hereafter. In this respect, Allah says in Surah Al-Mumin (The Believer):
Without coming to this world, and without dying we can't go to paradise. We can't dream to go to paradise without tasting death. So we have to die whether we like it or not. Death is truth (haqq). It is a passage to paradise. Therefore, each has to remember death and to prepare himself for that day. Our beloved Prophet reminded us that we have to remember death, as it is the one that defeats all types of pleasures.
Ibn Umar narrated that the Messenger of Allah said:
While we are to remember death, we have to prepare ourselves to meet it - before it meets us. In this regard, our beloved Prophet said:
Remember that death is a process of rest for both the believers and the wicked. We hope and pray that we Muslims obey Allah in our private and public life. We hope and pray that Allah will be happy with us. We pray that when death comes to us, we are ready to face it with courage. We hope that when we die, we will die as loving sincere Muslims. Ameen.

From GAZA With LOVE... 23 Mac 09

Last night was most memorable. We had 2 special guests from GAZA!
Ummu Muhammad (Rasya al-Adluni Ar-Rantisi (widow of As-Syahid Dr Abdul Aziz Ar-Rantisi) and Ummu Umar (Umi Nadia Al-Ahsy, zaujah Dr. Musa Muhammad Abu Marzuk (Timbalan Ketua Biro Politik HAMAS) )
It was a by-invitation only closed session, in Serdang, attended by about 80 ladies.
The talks were most inspiring :
Ummu Umar - very vocal & most energetic!
After a long JIM IPT Pusat discussion since 6 pm, it was amazing that I could stay awake throughout the 9.30 pm - 12.30 am session!! Alhamdulillah
Express collection amounted to RM5210 , Alhamdulillah.
Banyak mutiara yang dapat di kutip dan amat menginsafkan.

Oh... how time flew..... school break 13-21 Mac 09

Today's the last day of the school break - rasa sunyi pulak... always have this feeling when the children leave the nest, never failed... huhu
The week passed by so fast, felt like it was only yesterday we picked the boys up in Greenwood. That was last Friday, March 13th
Saturday morning Zharif had his first ever camping - at Amal Hidayah's tadika compound! sounds like it was great fun! Was a bit reluctant to go, with the big brothers around!
Saturday night sent 'Atif off at Hentian Duta to attend Xcell in Penang. Mg mendapat menfaat maksima(!) & mencapai objektif! 4 from Ampang Jaya, 'Atif, Atiqah, Mariah & Nasrul. Alhamdulillah fully sponsored by kawasan.... :)

Sunday was another full day. alhamdulillah the boys were around, boleh tengok adik2. Daurah in the morning d SRIAAKL. Stopped by at home to see how things were, solat & short (quality??) time with the kids, then off to masjid Ridhwan. Sila picked me up at around 2.30 & we headed to de Dalma for WJS's meeting with Selangor Muslim Women NGOs. It was already late when I got home.

Spent time with the kids Monday morning. Petang usrah d umah K Ani & malam had another meeting d Kompleks JIM - SMIWI coming up! waaaa... banyaknya kerja nak kena buat!

Tuesday was really,really packed!
After lots of SMSes & calls, transport for Kem Remaja Perkasa was finally organised, alhamdulillah. Meeting point- PKJ, 8.15 am. Afiq was late(very late!). All 22 were finally on their way Hulu Langat by 9.05..... Phooh, lega!
We then climbed into Yan's MPV. Our next mission: Jaulah Kasih , ke rumah Zid d Tasik Puteri.I've been there, accompanied her when she moved Nov last year. But none of the others had been there nor seen her since she moved. It was a good visit, alhamdulillah.

Sent the 3 angels to Yan's place at around 6.30pm. Tonight we had a wedding to attend at Sime Darby Convention Centre. Our plan was to pick 'Atif up at Hentian Duta at 7.30pm and send him off to KRP after the wedding dinner. But it was not to be.. 7.30, the bus was still in Sg Bernam, another hour or so before it reached KL.
sneaked out early, no one's around outside the hall, boleh lah posing.... hehe

As the pengantin settled at the main table, 'Atif called. So we asked him to take a taxi to SDCC. But as usual, pcik Othman will send him instead! We waited & waited, & waited... It was only 5-min drive away but it had already been more than half an hour ... Lan called, & whoa!!! they were at KLConvention Ctr!!! He got it all mixed up - KLCC for SDCC, KLCC gor KLGCC!!
Lesson learnt: talk to the driver, find out for sure if he knows where he's going! don't count on your kid telling him, based on what he heard from you...!
So we changed plan, we'll pick 'Atif & the 3 from Othman's place. He didn't bring the housekey & we didn't leave one... By the time we reached home it was past 10pm. 'Atif had a good night sleep & Lan off to his usrah, goodbye KRP for tonight! New plan: They'll join the Qiam the next morning....
Lesson learnt (2) : when taking seats at a table, I will sit next to a lady & Lan on my other side.
Tonight we made a mistake of Lan sitting next to his friend with me on his other side leaving the seat on my other side empty.... Along came a decent looking couple... I smiled at the wife anticipating her to fill up the seat next to me, tut..tut... it was the husband instead! ouch! he even had the grace to pull out the chair beyond for the wife to sit on...which was beside another guy! aduhhhh, the rest of the ladies at the table looked a bit stunned too. I had to slowly inch my seat towards Lan. Hope I didn't seem rude. That sort of spoiled my night. Oh well....
With the boys at the camp, another ziarah kasih on wednesday ! This time we visited Fatimah . Haven't seen her since she was discharged from Ampang Puteri, months ago!! Our last visit was when she was in Danau Kota, she had since moved to Taman Melati.

Today our usrah group joined Nadi Asybal committee meeting in Al Amin KL. Planned aktiviti Aulad for Rehlah Keluarga this coming Saturday.
Thursday morning went with Jun & Jawaher to Taman Tasik Perdana to recce for a good spot for our Rehlah Keluarga

Early friday morning, the house was lively! no one slept in after subuh as everybody had had a good night sleep! empty tummies, so had to go out and get breakfast - of all the days, today they came back straight from the surau instead of stopping by to get breakfast..sigh....
After Friday prayers Lan took everybody to KLCC, including Afnan & Faiz, leaving me behind to settle the laundry. Bliss, no interruption!!
Tonite's the last nite before the school break ended. Tonite we must make time for a family dinner! Lan left his phone somewhere in KLCC, so off he went with 'Arif to search for it. Hard luck! (yesterday found it under the driver's seat... alhamdulillah).
I took everybody else to JJ - Ahmad got himself a pair of new shoes - this afternoon he called, he just found out that he got 1 of size 8 & 1 size 10! Tough luck!
'Iffah came along, we had a nice family dinner at NZ, finally..... at 11 pm...alhamdulillah. Banyak cerita-ceriti menarik & lawak tentang KRP!!!

Sila picked me up at around 2.30 & we headed to de Dalma for WJS's meeting with Selangor Muslim Women NGOs. It was already late when I got home.

After lots of SMSes & calls, transport for Kem Remaja Perkasa was finally organised, alhamdulillah. Meeting point- PKJ, 8.15 am. Afiq was late(very late!). All 22 were finally on their way Hulu Langat by 9.05..... Phooh, lega!
We then climbed into Yan's MPV. Our next mission: Jaulah Kasih , ke rumah Zid d Tasik Puteri.I've been there, accompanied her when she moved Nov last year. But none of the others had been there nor seen her since she moved. It was a good visit, alhamdulillah.

Ijah pun ikut.... never knew that white bunga melati will turn yellow when plucked!Sent the 3 angels to Yan's place at around 6.30pm. Tonight we had a wedding to attend at Sime Darby Convention Centre. Our plan was to pick 'Atif up at Hentian Duta at 7.30pm and send him off to KRP after the wedding dinner. But it was not to be.. 7.30, the bus was still in Sg Bernam, another hour or so before it reached KL.
sneaked out early, no one's around outside the hall, boleh lah posing.... hehe
Hafeez used to work at Iktisas a few years back As the pengantin settled at the main table, 'Atif called. So we asked him to take a taxi to SDCC. But as usual, pcik Othman will send him instead! We waited & waited, & waited... It was only 5-min drive away but it had already been more than half an hour ... Lan called, & whoa!!! they were at KLConvention Ctr!!! He got it all mixed up - KLCC for SDCC, KLCC gor KLGCC!!
Lesson learnt: talk to the driver, find out for sure if he knows where he's going! don't count on your kid telling him, based on what he heard from you...!
So we changed plan, we'll pick 'Atif & the 3 from Othman's place. He didn't bring the housekey & we didn't leave one... By the time we reached home it was past 10pm. 'Atif had a good night sleep & Lan off to his usrah, goodbye KRP for tonight! New plan: They'll join the Qiam the next morning....
Lesson learnt (2) : when taking seats at a table, I will sit next to a lady & Lan on my other side.
Tonight we made a mistake of Lan sitting next to his friend with me on his other side leaving the seat on my other side empty.... Along came a decent looking couple... I smiled at the wife anticipating her to fill up the seat next to me, tut..tut... it was the husband instead! ouch! he even had the grace to pull out the chair beyond for the wife to sit on...which was beside another guy! aduhhhh, the rest of the ladies at the table looked a bit stunned too. I had to slowly inch my seat towards Lan. Hope I didn't seem rude. That sort of spoiled my night. Oh well....
With the boys at the camp, another ziarah kasih on wednesday ! This time we visited Fatimah . Haven't seen her since she was discharged from Ampang Puteri, months ago!! Our last visit was when she was in Danau Kota, she had since moved to Taman Melati.

Early friday morning, the house was lively! no one slept in after subuh as everybody had had a good night sleep! empty tummies, so had to go out and get breakfast - of all the days, today they came back straight from the surau instead of stopping by to get breakfast..sigh....
After Friday prayers Lan took everybody to KLCC, including Afnan & Faiz, leaving me behind to settle the laundry. Bliss, no interruption!!
Tonite's the last nite before the school break ended. Tonite we must make time for a family dinner! Lan left his phone somewhere in KLCC, so off he went with 'Arif to search for it. Hard luck! (yesterday found it under the driver's seat... alhamdulillah).
I took everybody else to JJ - Ahmad got himself a pair of new shoes - this afternoon he called, he just found out that he got 1 of size 8 & 1 size 10! Tough luck!
'Iffah came along, we had a nice family dinner at NZ, finally..... at 11 pm...alhamdulillah. Banyak cerita-ceriti menarik & lawak tentang KRP!!!

CRY BABY CRY ! , 23 Dec 08

Our plan for the Dec 23rd morning was to send K Soh & Nani to Bonython Hall to attend Izrul's convo (2 extra seats acquired). The rest would then proceed to Festival Theatre or anywhere nearby, before meeting up again for photo taking. But it was not to be!
K Long broke her waterbag as we were getting ready! Alhamdulillah!! at last, the baby's coming! A bit panicky though, hehe. So off we went to WCH after dropping everybody at Adelaide Uni

K Long had to be admitted since the water'd turned greenish - the baby's pooed in there! The main worry was the baby might swallow the pooed water, yeulch!!

We went up to the birthing room (they don't call it labour room here...) . Waaah! nice room, very comfy with nice view of the park.
come rain or shine we'll always be by your side, sayang..
That's where we camped for the next 27 hours!!

We took time off to be with the graduant and took some nice pics + had morning tea at the Union House.

All done, we went back to WCH and waited.... It was another long wait!!

Went thru 4 shifts of midwives. They were nice & really helpful,Alhamdulillah. Chris, the last one was particularly nice & did all she could to make us all less anxious! I was still so, tho' I'd gone thru it 8 times myself!! huhu
The ever so helpful Chris - she made the birthing process sound soooo simple, and not at all scary huh, Long! hehe
K Long started her contraction at around 2 am - by the look of it, quite mild! The doc came by to check, she said it was only 3 cm. The next 4 hours didn't show much improvement, up by only 1 cm. The Doc then gave another 4 hours & if nothing much happened then, caesar it would be! She's worried the baby might be distressed.
Ya Allah, jangan lah! I was quite horrified actually, please, not caesar, this was only K Long's first baby!
Asked Lan & Afan to solat hajat, mohon selamat & yang terbaik. I could not read the Qur'an, so only managed the ma'thurat & doas. This time I was getting really, really anxious!!
The doc came in at 10am, & Subhanallah! it was already 8cm!!!! Alhamdulillah, syukur sangat! It'll be normal delivery after all, Alhamdulillah!!!!
As the contraction was getting stronger, the doc offered epidural. Go for it Long!
The baby's coming! I can feel it!!!
And the baby came at 12.38 pm...
Alhamdulillah, with Ummi, Baba, Tok & Tok Wae welcoming you to this beautiful world!!! Moga besar jadi mujahidah solehah & penyejuk hati ayah bonda!

It was a few minutes before she let out her first cry, due to having swallowed the pooed water...urrrgh.... Quite worrying there!
The doctors, midwives & nurses were quite calm, so we had to be so too! She was in good hands Ahamdulillah. After some tickling, patting & sucking out of phlegm, she finally whimpered, followed by loud cries, muffled by the oxygen mask. Alhamdulillah thummalhamdulillah!
K Long was then taken to the ward & baby to the special nursery for observation. It was time for us to make a move too.Time to qadha' the lost sleeps!
all nicely tucked in...
We went home with light steps & songs in our hearts! and with new titles: TOK & TOK WAE!!!!

FAMILY TIME - ADELAIDE , 22DEC 08

After a short rest, they were raring to go! We still had the van from the orang bujang!
After solat at the union house,
and putar-putar Adelaide Uni, off we went to Rundle Mall.
Then lunch by the River Torrens
after getting some supply for tonite's dinner.
A lot of walking today, still K Long looked ok :(
We ended our round today with pre-graduation pics!!
Then rushed back to prepare dinner, as tonite's family dinner would be at K Long's place..
